Events & Workshops
The Bloomsbury Clinic is a major centre for the treatment of Hepatitis C and we have new, highly effective medication.
The new drugs are called direct-acting agents or DAA’s and there are no injections. They are all very effective in curing Hepatitis C with a success rate of over 90% and with very few side effects. Already hundreds of patients have been cured with over 1000 on the waiting list.
These new drugs can cure Hepatitis C but they do not provide immunity so, if you do not take precautions, you can be re-infected. At the moment, because of the high cost of the drugs, NHS England does not offer a second course of treatment.
Therefore, as part of the treatment pathway, the patient is required to attend an evening workshop run by the Bloomsbury Network with the participation of clinicians, psychologists and the patient representatives to help people deal with the stigma attached to a Hep C diagnosis, to learn about the medical aspects of transmission, the support available and how they can protect themselves from re-infection.
The workshops take place regularly on Wednesday evenings 6.00 – 8.15.
You can attend if you are about to start medication, on medication or during your follow-up period. For more information and the Hep C Re-infection Prevention Programme please ring the patient representatives 0203 317 6177
