Newly Diagnosed Course

The Newly Diagnosed Course is a three-day course. It is open to any person who is living with HIV – no matter which clinic they attend.

It offers early intervention, peer support and empowerment through information. It is a peer-led, group-based participatory programme delivered by experienced facilitators – all of whom are living with HIV.

The course takes place over three Saturdays in the Duncan Catterall Room at the Mortimer Market Centre. Sessions run from 10:45 – 16:45 each day with a maximum of 15 participants.

The course covers:

  • Dealing with your diagnosis.
  • Disclosure – how to tell, who to tell, when to tell
  • Medical aspects of HIV, medication and side effects
  • Sex, love, relationships and transmission
  • The Law & HIV
  • What you can do to help yourself
  • Self-management skills

The course is free, including refreshments and lunch at a local restaurant.

Bloomsbury patients may be eligible for travel and child care subsidies. Please ask one of the patient representatives.

For more information, call the patient representatives – 020 3317 5177
